If you would, open your Bibles with me to the book of
Proverbs. Proverbs number nine. Proverbs chapter nine.
Praise You, Jesus. Proverbs chapter nine. And when you
reach Proverbs chapter nine, just signify by saying, "Amen."
Our textual Scripture will be Proverbs chapter nine and verse
one. It says,
1. Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her
seven pillars:
Let us pray. Most holy and gracious heavenly Father, we
thank You for the opportunity to be in Your Presence tonight.
Father, hide Your son behind the cross, that Your people
would see You and not me. Father, I ask that You would help
me to decrease that You would increase. And Father, let the
words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be
acceptable in thy sight, oh Lord, my strength and my
Redeemer. In Jesus' Name, amen.
The title of tonight's message will be, "The Seven Pillars of
Wisdom, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom." Many people are
looking for something to increase their worth. They're
looking for a quality or qualities to make themselves more
valuable or even to make themselves more useful. Glory to
God. They're looking for something (Glory to God) that will
cause them to be set apart from the norm.
We as a body of Christ have been given what we will call an
advantage. We have an advantage over all others. We have
an advantage (glory to God) even with the weapons that we
have in the Spirit. But God has given us an advantage called
wisdom. We preached a message before that how wisdom
was a voice, and it was a voice that causes changes to be
made into the earth with the people of God.
But tonight we're talking about wisdom (glory to God) as
being the seven pillars of wisdom. When we look at our
advantage, we have been given a better position than those
that are in the world. We have been given a better condition
than those that are in the world.
We have been given (glory to God) skillful and Godly
wisdom. We have been given access to skillful and Godly
wisdom. Glory to God. We have been given knowledge and
the ability to use it. Wisdom is knowledge and the ability to
use it.
In the amplified version of the Bible in the book of James,
when we look at the book of James he's concerned with
practical and ethical living. In James chapter one and verse
five, it says in the amplified version of the Bible, "If any of
you is deficient in wisdom..." In other words, "If any of you
lack wisdom," (glory to God), "You are lacking what will
make you complete.
"Let him ask of God, the giving God who gives to everyone
liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or fault-finding, and it will be given to him."
In verse six, "But only let it be asked in faith. Ask with
nothing wavering, with no hesitation, with no doubt. For the
one who wavers, hesitates, or doubts, is like the billowing
surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by
the wind."
Listen. He has given us knowledge and the ability to use it.
But He said if you are deficient in this wisdom, all you have
to do is ask for it. The Bible says in James three and verse
seventeen that it's easy to be entreated for. All you have to do
is ask for it. Glory to God.
In Proverbs nine and verse one, it said,
1. Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her
seven (perfect number) pillars:
In other words, knowledge and the ability to use it has put
together material that she has cut out and shaped and put in
position for perfect support. Let me say that again.
Knowledge and the ability to use knowledge has put together
material that she has cut out, and not only cut out. She's
shaped it and put it in position for perfect support.
Wisdom (glory to God) has built her house. And the seven
pillars give perfect support for us as a body of believers.
What are the pillars that wisdom has put in place? In the
book of Proverbs chapter eight...
As I began to ponder and to meditate on wisdom and her
seven pillars, I went to the amplified Bible of chapter eight of
Proverbs. And in verse fourteen (glory to God) in your Bible,
it says that,
14. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding;
I have strength.
In the amplified it says, "I have counsel and sound
knowledge. I have understanding. I have might and power."
And in verse eighteen, "Riches and honor are with me."
These are the seven pillars of wisdom that we need to use in
the body of Christ. The first pillar is counsel. Look at your
neighbor and say, "Counsel." Counsel is advice giving.
In Proverbs eleven and verse four, it says, "Where no counsel
is the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors is safety."
In Proverbs fifteen and verse twenty-two,
22. Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the
multitude of counsellors they are established.
The number one pillar (glory to God) in wisdom's house is
counsel.
The second pillar is knowledge. Knowledge is something
learned and kept in mind. In Proverbs ten and verse fourteen,
it says, "Wise men lay up knowledge.
In Proverbs twelve and one, it says, Whoso loveth instruction
loveth knowledge."
In Proverbs twelve and twenty-three it says,
23. A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of
fools proclaimeth foolishness.
Listen. We're talking about the seven pillars of wisdom.
This is what wisdom has to offer you. Wisdom just doesn't
offer you (glory to God) the knowledge and the ability for
everything else to go with it. The first one is counsel. The
second is knowledge. And the third is understanding, the
ability to get the meaning of.
Turn with me to Proverbs four. In Proverbs four and verse
seven, it says, "The beginning of wisdom is, get wisdom,
skillful and Godly wisdom." Remember I'm in the amplified.
"For skillful and Godly wisdom is the principle thing. And
with all you have gotten, get understanding or discernment or
comprehension and interpretation."
It's saying, "With all your getting, get all of these things
also." Understanding is the third pillar in the house of
wisdom.
The next pillar, the fourth pillar is might, power that can be
used.
In Ephesians three and sixteen... Turn with me there. It says,
"May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be
strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner
man by the Holy Spirit."
Jesus told His disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until ye be what?
Endued with power. In wisdom's house there is power.
Glory to God. There is might. Might is power that can be
used.
Many of us realize that there is might and there is power in
the things of God. But we don't understand how to use it.
We think that just praying in tongues a little bit (glory to God)
is going to cause us to be full of power. But it's the
combination of staying in the Word, fasting, and praying,
seeking His face and turning from our wicked ways. That's
what's going to give us power and might in the things of God.
Might is power that can be used. Another Scripture says that
the Lord gives us power to obtain wealth. Glory to God. In
other words, He gives us anointing to obtain wealth. We're
trying to search (glory to God) for something that's going to
increase our self-worth, but wisdom is all that we need,
because with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding have
got to follow. Glory to God.
The fifth pillar is power, possession of authority. Power is
possession of authority.
Turn with me to Luke chapter ten (glory to God) and verse
nineteen. In Luke ten and verse nineteen, this is what it says.
Jesus said, "Behold, I have given you," what? "Authority and
power to trample upon serpents and scorpions and physical
and mental strength and ability over all the power that the
enemy possesses. And nothing shall in any way harm you."
Glory to God.
This is a pillar in wisdom's house. That fifth pillar is power.
There's a Scripture in Proverbs eight, and I believe it's verse
one, that tells us that wisdom crieth out at the gate.
Wisdom is calling our name. Why? Because we are in need
of God to give us the ability to get out of what we've gotten
into. We need God to give us the wisdom, the knowledge, the
understanding (glory to God)... Oh, you don't hear me
tonight.
He said, "If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who
giveth to every man liberally." You're looking for a way out?
Wisdom is your way.
Wisdom, the Bible says, is to be more desired that rubies.
Wait a minute. I thought money was to be more desired. Oh,
you don't hear me. But wisdom is to be more desired than
your material wealth. Because if I get wisdom then (glory to
God) everything else is going to follow after it. Glory to God.
The sixth pillar in Proverbs nine and verse eighteen is riches.
Riches is great wealth, abundance, and fertility. Proverbs
fourteen and verse twenty-four says,
24. The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness
of fools is folly.
Proverbs eleven and sixteen says,
16. A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men
retain riches.
You're looking for riches? Riches are in wisdom's house.
Wisdom has built her house (glory to God) with seven perfect
pillars.
The pillar number seven in the house of wisdom is honor,
public admiration, outward respect. In Proverbs fifteen and
thirty-three, it give us the prerequisite for receiving honor. It
says, "The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom. And
before honor is humility."
Proverbs eighteen and twelve says, "Before destruction the
heart of man is haughty." In other words, it acts like it's
better than everybody else." "And before honor is humility."
If I am going to receive honor, then I can't be afraid to take
the low seat. Oh, you don't hear me. If I'm going to receive
honor (glory to God) I don't have to be up front. I can be in
the back and still get blessed. Many people want to be
honored. But humility goes before it.
It's like signing up for a college class. When you sign up for
it, by the time you get ready to pay your fees, you find out
that there was a prerequisite before you can have that class.
If you're going to get honor in your life, the prerequisite is
that you must be humble. You must walk in humility. God
gives more grace (glory to God) to those that are what?
Humble. Humility goes before honor.
Listen. The seven pillars in the house of wisdom. The first
one is counsel. Do you remember that? Look at your
neighbor and say, "Counsel is mine." The second one in the
house of wisdom is knowledge. Look at your neighbor and
say, "Knowledge is mine."
The third pillar in the house of wisdom is understanding.
Look at your neighbor and say, "Understanding is mine." The
fourth pillar in the house of wisdom is might. Look at your
neighbor and say, "Might is mine."
The fifth pillar in te house of wisdom is power." Look at your
neighbor and say, "Power is mine." The sixth pillar in the
house of wisdom is riches. Look at your neighbor and say,
"Riches are mine." And the seventh pillar in the house of
wisdom is honor. Look at your neighbor and say, "Honor is
mine."
The seven pillars of wisdom. It said, "Wisdom has builded
her house. In other words, wisdom has got her house in order.
And what she wants to do is regurgitate what she has done
(oh, you don't hear me tonight) and feed it to us, that we may
be well-fed and satisfied. You don't hear me tonight.
You been searching for what you need. You need wisdom. It
said wisdom was the principle thing. In other words, wisdom
is the number one thing.
People of God, no matter what you do, you need Godly
wisdom, skill and Godly wisdom, skill and Godly wisdom.
When you play, play skillfully. Whatever you do... When
you teach, teach skillfully. Whatever you do, you need Godly
wisdom, skill and Godly wisdom, in order to do it.
And what Paul did in order to get it... He said in Galatians
one, he said, "I'm not a man pleaser." He said, "When I got
called," he said, "I didn't confer immediately with flesh and
blood." But he said, "I went and hid myself on the backside
of the desert." He went to Arabia. And he went up (glory to
God) to have lessons from the Holy Ghost.
If you want wisdom (glory to God) from God, you have got to
be taught of the Holy Ghost, in the Name of Jesus. Man can
only give you some things. Oh, you don't hear me tonight.
Man can only give you some things. But God can give you
all things.
Come on, give God a handclap of praise.
